Grocery Stores

There are several markets near by, one at the end of the road called Food Town. For Food Town go out of the complex and make a right, go down the road turn right at the stop light and it will be on the left. They have about anything you would want, both local and big brands from the mainland. That is walking distance or a few blocks drive. There is also a Pueblo a few minutes drive away and fresh fruit, vegetable and fresh caught fish stands throughout the island. We also recommend Cost u Less (10 min drive) for bulk items- water, drinks, fresh produce and meats. Our favorite place for groceries is Quality Food! Not the easiest to find, but fresh produce, healthy selections and great prices!

Our Favorite Beaches

West end:

Rainbow Beach- Beach volleyball, restaurant, rentals and very nice beach.

Dorsch Beach- South end of town and there are dozens of pull offs along this stretch. Some will have some rocks, but most of this beach is beautiful, calm and sandy.

Cowboy Beach- Past rainbow beach about 1 mile. Beautiful sand and a little more private.

The Pier- (diving and snorkeling) You can see a lot under water hear, turtles, stingray, coral and maybe a dolphin!

By Christiansted:

Hotel on the Caye- This is directly in front of the boardwalk in town. There is a ferry boat that comes to the end of the boardwalk by the fort and picks up guests of the hotel and people wanting to go enjoy their beach. The beach if free, chairs are rented, there is a bar and BBQ restaurant on the beach and it’s beautiful. The ferry ride is about 2 minutes. 🙂 it does cost a few dollars for the ferry but it’s fun day.

Buck island- This is a half day or day trip and can be snorkeling, beach and sail or lunch or dinner cruise. Buck island is part of our National Marine Park with an underwater snorkeling trail and some pristine beaches.

East of Christiansted

The Bucaneer Hotel has two beaches we like a lot. The Shoys – a sandy beach in a small alcove. You walk from the parking lot through a long arch of trees and mangrove. It’s beautiful. There are no services there but a blanket, couple of towels or the beach chairs in our closet are perfect. It’s a beautiful sandy beach and very relaxing.

East end:

Cramer’s park- Before Point Udall (the large sundial from the millennium and the farthest eastern point in the us) is a nice park with calm waters and beautiful sand.

South shore:

Haypenny- This is the beach you will find surfers and body boarders. There are several stretches, and they are nice, but kind of out of the way. Haypenny is a very popular beach for locals too.

North Shore:

Cane Bay- (diving and snorkeling) Not the smoothest sand, but easy access to a restaurant for amazing sunset diners. There is also a dive shop across the street as this beach is known for diving and snorkeling The Wall.
